Lowville Man Sentenced on Burglary, Meth Making and Other Charges

    Lowville, NY- The following activity took place this morning in Lewis County
    Criminal Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding.

    Justin J. Hurley, 32, was sentenced as a second felony offender on charges
    of second-degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class "C"
    felony; second-degree Burglary,a class "C" felony; fourth-degree Criminal
    Possession of Stolen Property, a class "E" felony; third-degree Identity Theft, a
    class "A" misdemeanor and second-degree Criminal Possession of a Forged
    Instrument, a class "D" felony, to which he entered GUILTY pleas on June
    22nd. He received a total sentence of 6 years in State Prison with 5 years of
    post-release parole. He was additionally ordered to pay $1,320 in restitution
    and $1,500 in court fees. An order of protection was issued on the victim's
    behalf for a period of 8 years. Mr. Hurley was accused of breaking into a
    Village of Lowville home on December 24th, stealing a credit card and
    checkbook which he later used. The meth charge stems from a February 18th
    incident in the Village of Lowville.

    Jamie D. Lagzdins, 23, of Hingham, MA, was sentenced to a one year
    Conditional Discharge on a charge of seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a
    Controlled Substance, a class "A" misdemeanor, to which he pleaded GUILTY
    to on July 7th. He also received a six-month suspension of his driver's license,
    was ordered to pat $250 in court fees and has already successfully completed
    100 hours of community service. Mr. Lagzdins was accused of possessing LSD
    on July 2, 2017 at the moe.down music festival in Turin.

    Tyler L. Noftsier, 27, Croghan, was sentenced as a second felony offender to
    serve 1 1/3 to 3 years in State Prison on a charge of first-degree Criminal
    Contempt, a class "E" felony, to which he pleaded GUILTY to on August 4th.
    He was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees and an order of
    protection was issued on the victim's behalf for a period of 8 years. Mr. Noftsier
    was accused of violating a stay away order of protection on May 22, 2017 in
    the Town of Croghan.

    William J. Baldwin, 40, of Lowville, pleaded GUILTY to a charge of fifth-
    degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony. He was
    then placed on Interim Conditions of Probation for one year, with final
    sentencing scheduled for September 21, 2018. Mr. Baldwin was accused of
    selling heroin in the Village of Lowville on November 15, 2016.

    Deanna J. Miller, 50, of Webster, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of fifth-
    degree Conspiracy, a class "A" misdemeanor. The case was adjourned until
    November 3rd for sentencing. Ms. Miller was accused of conspiring to sell pills
    in the Town of Martinsburg between February 28 and April 07 of this year.

    Robert R. Newell, 51, of Glenfield, was placed on Interim Conditions of
    Probation on an amended charge of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a
    Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, to which he pleaded GUILTY to on
    July 14, 2017. Full sentencing was scheduled for September 21, 2018. Mr.
    Newell was accused of possessing cocaine with the intent to sell on July 14,
    2016 in the Town of Greig.

    Andrew Perry, 45, of Carthage, entered GUILTY pleas to charges of fifth-
    degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony and third-
    degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class "D" felony.
    Sentencing in the case was set for October 13th. Mr. Perry was accused of
    selling meth to a confidential informant on December 16, 2016 and possessing
    the agents to manufacture meth on March 3, 2017.

    Charles V. Wareham, 20, of Watertown, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge
    of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "D"
    felony. Judge King then placed him into the Lewis County Drug Court program,
    with final sentencing set for September 21, 2018. Mr. Wareham was accused
    of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell, during a traffic stop on
    March 23rd  in the Town of Croghan.
