| Lewis County Court Activity Report: Port Leyden Man Pleads Guilty to Child Sex Charges 09/29/17 02:30pm |

Criminal Court with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Gerald E. Baker II, 45, of Harrisville, was sentenced to a 3 year probation term on an amended charge of Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, to which he pleaded guilty on July 7th. He was additionally ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, pay a $1,000 fine and $395 in court fees, as well as receiving a driver's license revocation for one year. He must also participate in a Victim's Impact Panel and install an interlock device on his vehicle. Mr. Baker was accused of operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol on September 17, 2016, in the Town of Diana. Jason E. Houghton, 29, Castorland, was sentenced to a 3 year probation term on a charge of second-degree Offering to File a False Instrument, a class "A" misdemeanor, to which he entered a guilty plea on June 15th. He was also ordered to pay $250 in court fees and is not allowed to apply for benefits for a period of one year. Mr. Houghton was accused of filing false information with the Lewis County Department of Social Services on a SNAP recertification in October of 2015. Timothy F. Gaba, Lowville, admitted to a violation of the terms of probation which he received on September 6, 2013, for a period of five years. Judge King then revoked his probation and sentenced Mr. Gaba to serve one year in the Lewis County Jail. Jill Hirschy, 54, of Lowville, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of third- degree assault, a class "A" misdemeanor. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to November 17th. Ms. Hirschy was accused of causing injury to an individual by striking him in the arm with a steak knife on June 18th at her home in the Village of Lowville. Shannon M. LaQuay, 45, of Lowville entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of Disorderly Conduct, a violation, with sentencing set for October 13th. David W. Norton, Jr., 46, of Carthage, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of felony Driving While Intoxicated. He was then placed on Interim Conditions of Probation, with sentencing set for September 28, 2018. Mr. Norton was accused of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol on February 3, 2017 in the Town of Denmark. The charge was a felony based on a prior DWI conviction on March 13, 2012 in the Village of Lowville. Shawn R. Pignone, 32, of Port Leyden, entered GUILTY pleas to charges of one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a class "A" felony and 13 counts of Possessing Sexual Performance by a Child, class "E" felonies. Sentencing in the case was set for October 27th. Mr. Pignone was accused of engaging in sexual behavior with a child under the age of eleven between March of 2014 and January of 2017 in the Town of Lyonsdale. After a search warrant was executed by the New York State Police on January 23, 2017 on his computer, images of child pornography were located, resulting in the 13 counts of Possessing Sexual Performance by a Child. |
