The training will focus specifically on sheltering, and will prepare participants to assist people affected by disasters in a safe space where a variety of needs can be met. Prospective volunteers must be willing and able to serve in a disaster-affected area for a minimum of 14 consecutive days within the next month. The Red Cross will cover all training and travel costs for individuals who are deployed. In addition to volunteers, the Red Cross needs financial donations to be able to provide immediate disaster relief.
