| Lowville Man Pleads Guilty to Selling Morphine in Village 08/05/17 03:00pm |

Court on Friday, August 4th, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Jason Ward, 40, Lowville, entered a GUILTY plea to an amended charge of fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, satisfying all charges in a four-count Grand Jury indictment. Sentencing was adjourned to October 13th. Mr. Ward was accused of selling morphine in the Village of Lowville on two occasions in January. Darinda E. Babcock, 25, Croghan, was arraigned and pleaded GUILTY to a charge of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a class "E" felony. Judge King then placed her on a one-year term of Interim Conditions of Probation, setting sentencing for August 03, 2018. Ms. Babcock was accused of stealing over $1,000 in merchandise from the Walmart store in the Town of Lowville on December 6, 2016. Timothy J. Brown, 40, Turin, was arraigned and entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of second-degree Forgery, a class "D" felony, satisfying all 73 counts he was facing. Mr. Brown was accused of forging the signature on a bank check and cashing it at the Northern Federal Credit Union in the Town of Lowville on March 3, 2016. Brandon R. Dicesare, 29, Lyons Falls, pleaded GUILTY to an amended charge of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, a reduction from the original charge of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "B" felony. Sentencing in the case was set for August 18th. Mr. Dicesare was accused of possessing cocaine in the Town of Leyden on December 20, 2016. Kenneth D. Lance, Jr., 28, Adams, was arraigned and pleaded GUILTY to a charge of third-degree Assault, a class "A" misdemeanor. Sentencing was adjourned to October 13th. Mr. Lance was accused of getting into an argument with a male individual and then striking him in the head with a wrench, causing a laceration, on July 16, 2017 in the Town of New Bremen. Tyler L. Noftsier, 27, Croghan, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of first- degree Criminal Contempt, a class "E" felony. Sentencing in the case was scheduled for September 29th. Mr. Noftsier was accused of violating a stay away order of protection on May 22, 2017 in the Town of Croghan. Taylor J. Tucker, 23, Lowville, pleaded GUILTY to charges of second-degree Criminal Trespass, a class "A" misdemeanor and Petit Larceny, a class "A" misdemeanor. Judge King then placed him on a one-year term of Interim Conditions of Probation, with sentencing scheduled for August 3, 2018. |
