July 27, 2017
CUSTOMERS OF THE VILLAGE OF LOWVILLE ARE HEREBY ADVISED BY THE VILLAGE OF LOWVILLE TO REDUCE WATER USAGE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The Village of Lowville water system has experienced excessive consumption in the last several weeks. That, coupled with the ongoing extreme amounts of rainfall has pushed the filtration system beyond the capacity of the system. The principles of the slow sand filtration process rely on a continuous steady rate of flow through the filters. Excessive turbidity in the source water supply coupled with the extreme consumption has had an adverse effect on our ability to produce the necessary water. A steady decline in the water level in our reservoir has triggered this notice. Customers are hereby required to conserve water. Conservation methods include refraining from car washing, swimming pool filling, lawn watering as well as limiting laundry washing and any unnecessary water use. For more information, you may contact Mr. Thomas Compo or Mr. Rich Ross of the Village of Lowville or the New York State Health Department in Watertown. Please share this information with all people who are water customers of the Village of Lowville, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses). |
