The board originally had $5,000 in funding available, and municipalities were able to apply for any amount up to $5,000 to help fund a summer recreation program. The members then considers each request before doling out the funding. This year six applications were received for consideration, The board additionally learned that they had received an extra $2,282 in unexpected NYS OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services) funding, Chairman Scott Mathys announced. After some discussion, the board members decided to move $1,000 of the extra OCFS funding to the Youth Development Municipality Run Recreation Program fund, agreeing to award each applicant $1,000. The members also recognized student representatives who are leaving the board, as well as community member Mary Martin. The term of the Chairman of the Board was due to expire, with members electing to change their bylaws to allow for a Co-Chair. Members then elected community representative John Exford, with the Volunteer Transportation Center, and student representative Jacob Hartle, of Harrisville, as Co-Chairs of the Board. |
