Lewis County Court Activity Report: Friday, March 31, 2017

    Lowville, NY- The following activity took place in Lewis County Criminal Court
    on Friday, March 31, 2017, with Judge Daniel R. King presiding:

    Sentencing:

    Joshua Alexander, 33, Copenhagen, was sentenced as a second-felony
    offender to a three year term in State prison followed by 3 years of parole on a
    charge of fourth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "C"
    felony, to which he pleaded guilty to on February 17th. Judge King mandated
    Mr. Alexander to the state prison system’s 90-day Willard Drug Rehabilitation
    Program, which allows inmates who successfully complete the program to
    serve the remainder of their prison sentences under parole supervision. Mr.
    Alexander was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees and $44 in
    restitution. He was accused of selling methadone in the Town of Croghan on
    May 18, 2016, and was one of sixteen people arrested during the  'Operation
    Northern Watch' drug sweep in September.

    Julie R. Green, 49, Watertown, was sentenced to a five year probation term
    on a charge of third-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class
    "B" felony, to which she pleaded guilty to on January 20th. She paid $330.75 in
    restitution and was ordered to pay $50 in court fees, as well as receiving a six-
    month drivers license suspension.Ms. Green was accused of selling
    Oxycodone, in the Village of Lowville, during December of 2015, and was one
    of 16 people arrested during the Operation Northern Watch drug roundup in
    September.

    Julie A. Greene, 32, Lowville, was placed on a one-year Interim Conditions of
    Probation on charges of second-degree Criminal Contempt, a class "A"
    misdemeanor and second-degree Harassment, a violation, which she entered
    guilty pleas to on February 17th. She was scheduled to reappear on March 30,
    2018 for full sentencing. Ms. Greene was accused of violating a court order of
    protection on December 4, 2016 in the Town of Watson, where she caused
    unwanted physical contact and bruising to the protected party.



    PLEAS:

    Melissa P. Hutchins, 29, of Watertown, was arraigned and entered a GUILTY
    plea to a charge of third-degree Criminal Mischief, a class "E" felony.
    Sentencing was scheduled for June 2nd. Ms. Hutchins was accused of causing
    damage to a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta belonging to another party on November
    18, 2016 in the Town of Martinsburg.

    Kendra Zehr, 20, of Lowville, pleaded GUILTY to amended charges of fifth-
    degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and fifth-degree Criminal
    Possession of a Controlled Substance, both class "D" felonies. She was then
    placed in Judicial Diversion Court, similar to and handled through the county's
    drug court program. Ms. Zehr was accused of selling oxycodone in the Village
    of Lowville on June 6, 2016, and was one of sixteen people arrested in the
    'Operation Northern Watch" drug sweep in September.

    Grand Jury Indictments:

    Justin J. Hurley, 33, Lowville, was indicted on a charge of second-degree
    Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, with additional charges pending. A
    NOT GUILTY plea was entered, with a remand to Lewis County Jail continuing
    with bail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. The case was adjourned to May
    5th. Mr. Hurley is accused of possessing meth making materials in the Village
    of Lowville on February 18th.

    Kyle Poore, 29, Lyons Falls, was indicted on charges of third-degree Burglary,
    a class "B" felony; second-degree Assault, a class "D" felony; third-degree
    Criminal Possession of a Weapon; and fourth-degree Endangering the Welfare
    of a child, as a child under the age of seventeen was present at the time of the
    alleged attack. Mr. Poore is accused of breaking into the residence of Paul
    Lyndaker on February 19, in the Town of New Bremen, brandishing a
    chainsaw and causing severe tendon damage to Mr. Lyndaker's hand. NOT
    GUILTY pleas were entered and bail was set at $15,000 cash or $30,000
    bond. The case was adjourned to May 5th.
