National Weather Service Buffalo NY 846 AM EST Wed Mar 1 2017 NYZ007-008-012300- /O.CON.KBUF.FA.A.0003.170302T0000Z-170303T1700Z/ /00000.0.RS.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Jefferson-Lewis- Including the cities of Watertown and Lowville 846 AM EST Wed Mar 1 2017 ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM EST THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING... The Flood Watch continues for * A portion of central New York...including the following counties...Jefferson and Lewis. * From 7 PM EST this evening through Friday morning. * Low pressure is forecast to track from the Great Lakes to New England through tonight. This will bring periods of rain showers and very warm temperatures which will result in additional snow melt. River flows are already running very high on the Black River, leaving it vulnerable to flooding. * Flows on the Black River will remain high through this afternoon but are expected to remain below flood stage. After this, the Black River should begin to rise tonight as it responds to the additional rain and snow melt. This may result in flooding along the Black River and some of its larger tributaries through the end of the week. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.
