| Lowville Village Trustee Resigns; Village Seeks to Appoint Replacement 02/08/17 05:00pm |
Lowville, NY- It is with regret that I inform the public that Trustee Franz Phillipe has resigned from his position on the Village of Lowville Board of Trustees effective February 4, 2017. As he stated "It has been a great honor serving and representing the Village residents as well as working with our dedicated Village mayor, board members, employees and residents. Quite simply, my schedule no longer affords me the time that I believe is required of the position and that the Village deserves." To fill this position, an individual will be appointed as a trustee until the following scheduled Village election on March 20, 2018. It is requested that all interested individuals send a letter of intent and 3 references to the Village of Lowville, 5535 Bostwick Street, Lowville, NY 13367, Attn: Donna Smith. In March of 2018, the Village will be holding another election for residents to vote in a trustee for the remainder of the current 4 year term being vacated, resulting in a 1 year term. We recently had the resignation of Justice Yarina, December 31, 2016. Due to this resignation, we will be holding a Village of Lowville election on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 to fill this 1 year vacancy. Petitions may be picked up at the Lewis County Board of Elections office located on 7550 South State Street, Lowville, NY. Questions in regard to this March 21, 2017 election may be answered by calling 315-376-5329. Completed petitions (75 registered voter signatures of Village of Lowville residents) must be returned to the Board of Elections office by 4:30 pm February 14th, 2017. A 4 year justice position will be filled as a result of a March 20, 2018 election. To be a justice in the state of New York, schooling is required to serve this position, unless you are an attorney. Should you be voted into this position and require schooling, the Village of Lowville is responsible for this expense. At this time, I would also ask that anyone interested in serving on any of our boards- planning, zoning board of appeals or municipal- would also send a letter of interest to the Village of Lowville office, 5535 Bostwick Street, Lowville, NY 13367 or e-mail villow@nnymail.com. All appointed or elected Village of Lowville board positions require that you are a Village of Lowville resident. At this time, I would personally like to thank Patricia Yarina and Franz Philippe for the time that they took out of their schedules to serve our Village of Lowville. Their expertise in their areas of interest will be missed. 2016 was a very busy year in the Village of Lowville. Being surrounded by dedicated individuals has made it much more manageable! If you feel that you might have this personality trait and are interested in making a difference in your community, please do not hesitate to contact the Village of Lowville office. Thank you!
